Buttons have dissapeared - Canvas Theme - WP Socializer

Hi.

Using WP3.8.1, IE11, v2.4.9.8 WP Socializer, Woothemes Canvas theme

The buttons have disappeared from by posts. They were showing up nicely both before and after the post, but now gone. If id “view” the post from within the theme, they show up, but when viewed as someone would view on the internet, they are missing.

Using Firefox does not help neither does clearing the browser cache in between or turning everything off and back on again. Seems like something is stuck in a weird state. I did play around with various button and template settings before it “stopped working” but I can’t see how that would affect it. Any ideas???

Here is an update on this issue. I found the following:

With just the “show on front page” and “show on individual posts” boxes checked, the buttons would not show up in my blog post on the internet.

With the “show on front page” and “show on individual posts” and the “show in excerpts” boxes checked, then all is well and they show up in the blog post.

This does not make sense to me that you need the excerpt box checked. Is my understanding of the use of that box not clear or is this a bug or??

OK,

I have answered my own question. It turns out that what I am seeing is correct. I have my theme displaying the excerpt of the Post and therefore checking the excerpt box shows the buttons in the excerpt and that makes sense in what I observe. Case closed for now.
