I am trying to adjust the vertical spacing between the above. When I remove a
from each, some of the social media units have a nice, small space, which is what I am going for, but the others end up with no spacing at all. Help!

Instead wrap the button codes with a span tag and apply the style.

Eg:

{facebook-like}

{plusone-tall}

{addthis-sc}
