  • Hello,

I installed your plugin a couple months ago. It worked fine at that point. I loaded up my page today and updated all my plugins yours included and now the short code doesn’t work on my index page. It works just fine on any other page but on the index page it just shows the short code itself and doesn’t execute it.
    The website in question

You can see on the contact page of that website that the short code works on pages other than the index page.

I do not want to allow the plug-in to put the follow and share icons automatically on pages and posts. I want it exactly in those two spots via a short code.

    Please help?

    Hi,
Thanks for using WP Socializer. There is no change in WP Socializer related to shortcodes.

It looks like the shortcode is not “executed” by your theme or by WordPress.

Can you please try inserting it in the shortcode block instead of paragraph?

    Thanks,
    Aakash

It is inserted into a short code block on both the contact page and the index page. I’ve got it saved as a pattern that I use in both places.

Just to narrow down the issue, instead of WP Socializer shortcode, can u pls type an inbuilt shortcode?

like [caption]Hello[/caption]? does it work or display the code as is?

    Thanks,
    Aakash

Okay it is indeed a wordpress problem. The code displays as code on the index page and as a caption on the contact page. Do you happen to know where I can ask for help with that?

The first step would be to check with the theme developer and tell them that the shortcodes are not executed on the homepage.

Since it is working in the contact page, most probably it is not executing shortcodes due to a bug or some config with patterns.

The theme is twenty twenty three by wordpress. I’ve just customized it a lot via the page editor. I’ve not touched the php at all. I’ll look for a way to bug report to wordpress themself as the theme is one of their official themes. Might just need to wait until the next update.
    Thank you for the help!

Great. Also, please try inserting shortcodes directly without a pattern and see if it executes. That can help narrow down the issue further.

Without the pattern it works! You are a genius! Thank you! This wasn’t even a problem with your plug-in and you solved the problem! ❤️

    Excellent! Glad it works 🙂
I’ll mark this topic as resolved.
